The Hamburg Hawks are the amateur baseball team that competes in the Crow River Valley League. The Hawks play at Hawk Field, which has been one of the favorite parks in the area by many fans.
In 2021, the Hamburg Hawks will help host the Minnesota Baseball Association State Tournament. It’s the second time in the past five years Hawks Field will be home of the state tournament. Hamburg was one of three hosts for the 2017 Class C State Tournament. In 2021, Hawks Field will help the Waconia Lakers and Chaska Cubs host the state tournament.
Hamburg is also expected to help host the 2021 Region 7C Tournament with the Plato Bluejays. With Bluejays Stadium not having lights, Hawks Field will host the night games.
The Hamburg Hawks have yet to reach the state tournament times in team history.
2020 was a weird season for the Hawks and the CRVL as a whole. Due to COVID-19, the season began late and was shortened. The Hawks finished the CRVL regular season with a record of 7-6. That earned them the No. 7 seed in the CRVL playoffs. Hamburg’s seasons came to an end in the league playoffs as the Carver Block Sox swept them in a best-of-three-game series.
Dawson Hensley led the way for Hawks in the 2020 season on the mound and at the plate. He was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of The Year. On the mound, he posted an ERA of 1.13 in 32 innings of work. That was good enough for third-best in the CRVL.
As good as Hensley was on the mound, he also led the Hawks at the plate. Hensley finished the CRVL season with an average of .327.
